Located in the Lauca National Park, the Parinacota Volcano (6342m)
got its fame from its beauty, its perfect conical form and its impressive
crater. From the summit you an have an incredible view on Lake Chungara
and Pomerape (6282m) and Sajama (6520m), the highest Bolivian peak.

ARICA - PUTRE |
| Reception
at Arica airport. Transfer to the altiplanic village of Putre (3400m).
We visit the Lluta Valley geoglyphs, and the archaeological sites
of Copaquilla and Zapahuira. We camp in the surroundings of Putre.

PUTRE - PARINACOTA - COTACOTANI |
| We reach
the famous Lauca National Park, which has been classified as a world
biosphere reserve by UNESCO. It is definitely one of the most beautiful
regions of Chile. We can appreciate the local fauna, and visit the
village of Parinacota before setting our camp in the Cotacotani Lagoons.

| Acclimation
trek to Lake Chungara, the highest lake in the world, with a deep
blue surface from where we have a fantastic view on Parinacota (6342m)
and Sajama (6520m). We set our camp near the lake (4500m) at the base

| Charge
transportation to camp 1 (5300m). Back to base camp. (B,L,D) |

| Ascent
to camp 1of Parinacota. We set our camp just at the inferior limit
of the eternal glaciers (5300m). We have a magnificent view on the
Lake Chungara from our camp. (B,L,D) |

CAMP 1 - PARINACOTA - CAMP 1 |
| Ascent
of Parinacota (6342m). On the top we enjoy a very impressive view
on the crater and Pomerape (6282m) and Sajama (6520m). Back to camp

CAMP 1 - CHUNGARA LAKE - ARICA |
Walk back
to Lake Chungara (base camp) (4500m). Long ride back to Arica, transfer
to the hotel. (B,L)
*This day is reserved as a second summit day in case of unsuccessful
attempt on day 6. |

| Free morning

| DEGREE
OF DIFFICULTY AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONING: |
For this
program it is necessary medium skills and presents strenous physical
requirements . The altitude, the constant wind and possible poor physical
condition of the traveler are the main difficulties of theses expeditions.
We recommend a good physical condition, good personal equipment and
a solid acclimatization (which we provide) for the best chance of
success. Our programs include a minimum acclimatization period that
we deem necessary. To give our travelers a better possibility to reach
the summit, we also recommend doing a previous trip at altitude if
possible.
It can be proposed several alternatives of short training ascents
around Santiago which have always provided us with excellent results:
La Leonera (5050m), Plomo (5430m), between others. |

SECURITY:
In order to realize this expeditions with the maximum security, we
take for each group first aid equipment, VHF radio transceivers and
according to the expeditions we also bring emergency oxygen equipment,
HF radio transceivers and, depending on situation hype.
Additionally, we ask travelers to obtain insurance for medical and
evacuation expenses in case of accident. We offer this kind of insurance;
please ask us for current rates. Otherwise we require signing a responsibility
discharge in case of accident. All of our guides have an excellent
knowledge of the terrain and extensive experience as mountaineers
